Don’t have a rubbish Christmas – take note of changes to the refuse and recycling collections over the festive period

That's the message from Ashford Borough Council (ABC) as the holiday periods mean rubbish bins being emptied on different days to normal.

Some collections will take place up to three days later and bins need to be put out an hour earlier than usual for collection. All waste should be out for collection by 6am over Christmas and New Year.

But the usual Thursday, December 25, collection will be on Saturday, December 27, and the normal Friday, December 26, collection will take place on Monday, December 29.

The usual recycling collection on Monday, December 29, will take place on Tuesday, December 30 and the collection due on Tuesday, December 30, will be on Wednesday December 31.

The Wednesday, December 31, usual collection will be on Friday, January 2, and the collection due on Thursday, January 1, will be on Saturday, January 3, and the pick-up due on Friday, January 2, will be on Monday, January 5.

The following week’s refuse collections will take place the day after their normal date.

Normal collections of both household rubbish and recycling will resume on Monday, January 12, in 2015.

There will be no collections for garden waste or bulky items over the festive period. The normal service for these resumes on Monday, January 5.
