Police incident on M20 near Ashford

Traffic has been held on the M20 this afternoon on both sides of the motorway after a man was spotted standing on a bridge above the motorway.

Police were called at 3.30pm to reports of concern for a man standing on a bridge on Station Road, Ashford above the M20.

The man came down from the bridge and is now with police.

The motorway was closed temporarily but has now been reopened.

The incident took place between junctions 9 and 11.

Delays can be expected while the area clears.

Highways England‏ have also tweeted this afternoon saying that there are delays just after junction 10 on the M20 coastbound with one lane closed because a car has broken down.

The car has its hand brake stuck on, and motorists can expect delays there too. It is currently expected to clear by 6pm.
