Former Starsailor frontman James Walsh is performing at St Mary's Church Ashford on Wendesday, December 4
09:00, 22 November 2013
The former frontman of post-Britpop rockers Starsailor will be performing a stripped back acoustic set in Ashford.
Starsailor rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits including Good Souls and Alcoholic, selling over three million albums and performing alongside the likes of U2.
After taking the difficult decision to put the band on extended hold, James Walsh has barely looked back.
Since that time, the band’s lead guitarist and vocalist has struck out on a solo career, releasing his first album Lullaby in 2012.
He’s toured with Sheryl Crow, playing to more mainstream audiences than he ever did with Starsailor’s indie following, and recording the Live At The Top Of The World EP with Norway’s Tromsø Chamber Orchestra.
And his newfound freedom has brought out Randy Newman and Rufus Wainwright influences, with his music acquiring a new maturity and a new sound.
James will be bringing this new sound when he appears in the latest of this season’s Revelation St Mary’s concert series.
Doors open at St Mary’s Church in Ashford town centre at 7pm on Wednesday, December 4, for a 7.45pm start.
Tickets are £12 in advance, or £14 on the door. Concessions are available.
