Details of new £4 million sixth form centre at Homewood School in Tenterden are progressing well

Plans for a £4 million sixth form centre at Tenterden's Homewood School have been submitted to Ashford council.
The three-storey block will cater for the increasing number of pupils staying into the sixth form.
Principal Sally Lees said: “This is very exciting for us. We are looking forward to the centre being built as it will provide much better facilities for the pupils.
“This is the biggest development since I have been here and the biggest since we built A block in 2005.”
A site has been earmarked between the school’s music block and sports hall.
The school has to put a bid in to the Education Funding Agency for the money to build the centre.
If planning permission is granted and the money forthcoming, it is hoped the building will be finished by September 2015, or 2016.
At present the school has 417 pupils in the sixth form and the centre will cater for 500.
