It was reported a suspect entered a clothes store and attempted to leave with a number of items without paying.

A 39-year-old man from Ashford was arrested on suspicion of theft and remains in custody.

On Twitter, Kent Police Ashford said the man was suspected of taking about £2,000 worth of clothing.

Last month, two suspected shoplifters who targeted stores at the Outlet were arrested within 10 minutes of police being called.

Officers were called to the site following a report Gucci sunglasses worth about £300 had been stolen from Sunglass Hut.

Clothing allegedly swiped from the Hugo Boss and Nike outlets - worth a total of about £600 - was also seized by officers.

The force says it was called to Ashford Designer Outlet shortly before 2pm on Sunday, January 22.

The arrested men, both in their 20s and from the Canterbury area, have both since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
