A man has been charged following a disturbance at a town centre McDonald's.

Police were called to the fast food restaurant in Ashford’s Lower High Street shortly before 6pm last night.

A picture shows several officers outside the chain – opposite the former Mecca Bingo hall – along with a police van.

A 46-year-old man was later arrested and taken into custody.

A spokesman for the force said: "Kent Police was called to a disturbance at McDonald's in Ashford High Street at 5.55pm on Thursday.

"Officers attended and a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and taken into custody."

Brendan Hackett, of Brigadier Gardens, Ashford, has since been charged with the offence.

He has been bailed to appear before Folkestone Magistrates' Court on November 21.

Meanwhile, paramedics were also called to the incident.

However, a spokeswoman for the ambulance service confirmed crews were later stood down.

McDonald’s has been contacted for comment.
