A woman has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker after a paramedic was allegedly punched in the face by a patient.
The incident - which left the female victim with a bruised jaw - happened in the A&E department at Ashford's William Harvey Hospital.
Police say the arrested 31-year-old woman, who is from the town, remains in custody while inquiries continue.
Officers were called to the hospital at about 2pm on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "Violence and aggression against our staff will never be tolerated. Our staff deserve to come to work without facing this kind of behaviour.
"We welcome the arrest in relation to this incident."
