Leon Camier bounced back from a big opening race crash at Magny Cours in the Superbike World Championship to claim a top 10 finish in race two.

The Ashford racer ended up in the gravel, trapped under his bike, after a big off in what were treacherous conditions at the French circuit.

Camier (pictured), who this week agreed a new deal with the FIXI Crescent Suzuki team to race for them next year, lined up at the front of the third row on the grid for what was the season’s final round.

He was running in sixth before his crash that left him a major doubt for the season finale.

But despite the pain, Camier emerged for the second 23-lap race, even though he and the bike were suffering the effects of the earlier smash.

At one stage he was down as low as 17th but gradually began to make up ground, to eventually finish in a respectable 10th place.

Camier had earlier reflected on the deal agreed for another year and said: "I am so happy to continue working with FIXI Crescent Suzuki and the whole team.

"We had a tough start to 2012, but the guys have all worked so hard to turn things around and we are now more competitive and close to the podium.

"I really wanted to stay here and continue with what we have started and to win races on the Suzuki, which is still the target and will be our main focus for 2013.

"The whole team is totally focused on succeeding in WSBK and with everything that is happening at the moment we are heading in that direction - it feels good to be a part of it."
