A takeaway has received a damning one-star rating after inspectors raised fears over how long ago food was prepared.
The Green Asian in Faversham Road, Kennington, was handed the low hygiene score following a visit from a council environmental health officer.
Evidence of cross contamination at the business was found and concerns about the preparation of food on-site were highlighted.
The Ashford Borough Council officer carried out a full inspection in November and found there was no food management system in place.
The Green Asian offers Chinese, Thai and Japanese food as well as other Asian dishes.
In the report, the inspector said: “I have concerns about the quantity of food and how it is being kept.
“This is a busy business. There was a lot of of food being prepared but it was difficult to establish how long ago it was prepared.
“There was evidence of cross contamination risks which need to be remedied.
“Routine cleansing is happening but not enough is being done in difficult to reach four detailed areas.”
In order to improve, the business - which offers takeaway and delivery - was advised to check the temperatures of chilled deliveries, repair the floor and carry out a gas safety check of the premises.
The inspector also recommended staff complete a refresher course in Level 2 food hygiene.
In December, an inspector revisited the site to monitor the takeaway's progress and told the firm it had made “good improvements in cleaning the structure and equipment containers” and it is now “managing food safety risks really well”.
The Green Asian is yet to receive an updated hygiene score from the Food Standards Agency, but the inspector said the takeaway had made “really good improvements in cleaning, structure and equipment”.
A member of staff told KentOnline how they have made changes - including fixing and cleaning the kitchen - and are waiting for a council officer to revisit the site.
