The first thing I notice about No61 Cafe after walking through the doors is just how pretty it is.

And I wonder to myself, are we here for breakfast or a photoshoot?

Flowers in hues of pink, white and purple cascade down the walls, and surround mirrors and light fittings.

Velvet chairs are placed around a number of tables, and huge cuddly teddy bears make themselves at home under a colourful arch.

Illuminated signs are dotted around the place reading ‘all you need is love’ and ‘today’s good mood is sponsored by coffee’.

It's the sort of venue you might expect to find in London, but instead, it’s in Ashford and clearly much-loved as it was bursting at the seams with customers.

As a younger person, the aesthetic of a restaurant excites me almost as much as the quality of the food. And this place is spot on for me, especially as my favourite colour is pink.

I already know this is a great spot to take a picture for Instagram to share with friends and family.

But as pleasing as it is on the eye, I now hope the food can measure up.

We visited the cafe on a chilly Sunday morning at around 10am, and only a few tables were left.

We were greeted by one of the members of staff who offered us a choice of which table we’d like to sit at. We selected one in the window and took a seat in the velvet chairs before browsing the menu.

With sweet and savoury dishes on the cards, and a huge array of drinks including coffees, mocktails, smoothies and more, there are plenty of options to choose from.

My eyes initially darted straight to the sweet options including blueberry pancakes, French toast and an acai bowl.

But then, I read the list of avocado-inspired dishes and was swayed by the ‘Avocholic’ – smashed avocado on toasted sourdough, with two free-range poached eggs and a side salad.

Customers also have the option to have a dish including both sweet and savoury foods and this is what my partner opted for.

Named ‘French Connection’, his meal included French toast, fried eggs, streaky bacon, sausage, baked beans, fruit and hash browns.

To drink, the only possible choice on a Sunday morning was coffee so one macchiato and a cappuccino it was.

Moments later, we were greeted with our drinks and shortly after this, our food.

My first thought when I saw my plate was ‘wow’ – it’s the only way to describe the beauty of the dish I had been served.

I thought it would be a challenge to make avocado on toast look pretty, but No61 did it.

And to be fair, every single dish we saw come out of the kitchen looked just as impressive.

But the meal not only looked incredible, it tasted divine.

The avocado was seasoned well, with a hint of chilli and lemon to taste.

The sourdough was fresh and toasted to perfection while the eggs were the best gooey consistency in the centre.

My partner’s dish also went down a treat. He commented on the eggs and said the French toast was soft, sweet and tasty.

My question was answered – it’s not just style here, but the substance too matches the beautiful look.

When it comes to the price, it is one of the more expensive breakfasts I’ve had but it was certainly worth it.

My breakfast was £10.99 and my partner's was £15.99. His cappuccino was £3.59 and my macchiato was £2.79 making the total meal £33.36.

It might not be in everyone’s budget, but in regards to portion sizes, you get your money's worth and I was left quite full for the rest of the day.

I can safely say, I think I’ve found my new favourite cafe.

It can get busy though, which is hardly surprising since it has a 4.5 star rating on Tripadvisor.

But their Instagram page reveals it is walk-ins only, so visitors could end up temporarily waiting for a table.

It’s also worth noting there is no parking at the venue so customers either need to walk, or find a roadside space nearby.

Decor: Nothing short of beautiful, I was mesmerised by the prettiness of the cafe which made me feel so comfortable *****

Staff: Extremely friendly and helpful, I can’t fault them *****

Price: Despite being more expensive than other restaurants offering breakfast and brunch, this one was certainly worth the extra pennies ****
