A TEENAGER is recovering at home after being stabbed in the leg in a vicious attack as he walked to work in Ashford.

Rawand Esmael, 18, was on his way to his cleaning job at 3.40am on Wednesday when he was subjected to the unprovoked assault by two men on motorcycles. He was stabbed once in his left thigh and need stitches in the wound when he was treated at Ashford's William Harvey Hospital.

As he made his way along Bond Road, South Ashford, at 3.40am the bikes stopped either side of him and one of the men asked him for a cigarette lighter.

Mr Esmael was then pressed to hand over money as the two men demanded to see his wallet. As they made their demands one of the men pulled out a knife and held it to his leg.

When Mr Esmael gave them his wallet and revealed he had no cash with him he was stabbed and the two men fled on the bikes.

He was left bleeding in the street, but managed to stumble back to the South Ashford home he shares with his girlfriend, 18-year-old Vicky Goodwin.

After being discharged from hospital Mr Esmael was sent home to rest. The police have taken the T-shirt and jeans he was wearing and have launched an investigation.
