Robber Peter Willmott jailed for Ashford attack

A bully who kissed his victim before robbing her has been jailed for five years.
Thug Peter Willmott had gone to the home of friend Hayley Roye in October last year.
Ms Roye, who regarded the 33-year-old Willmott as a bully, became aware he was in her flat.
Prosecutor Dominic Connolly told Canterbury Crown Court: “He came up to her and gave her a kiss on her forehead.
“He then, without warning, punched her to the head. He then punched her several more times.
“When doing so, he demanded her mobile phone, which she held in her hand. He tried to take it from her.
“Willmott then bit her wrist to try to make her let go. She tried to hold on but eventually let go.”
Judge Heather Norton heard how the yob then turned his attention on her friend Nigel Clifton.
Willmott, of Speldhurst Close, snarled at him: “Come on, you’ve got to have something on you... a wallet or something!”
The prosecutor alleged: “Mr Clifton was sitting on a chair in the lounge. Willmott punched him to his face several times before ripping his wallet from his zipped trouser pocket, ripping them.”
Mr Connolly said initially Ms Roye was too frightened to tell police who had robbed her because she feared her attacker.
After eventually reporting the attack she was given a panic alarm – after Willmott– who had denied to police officers he had been at the address – was warned to stay away.
But he turned up again and frogmarched Mr Clifton from the flat to the Murco garage in Brookfield Road, South Ashford, where there is a cashpoint machine.
“While escorting him there, Peter Willmott told him: ‘I have a knife in my pocket and I am going to stab you right up,’ added the prosecutor.
After withdrawing £300 he left his bewildered victim in the street – who was persuaded to go to the police station after receiving a call from Ms Roye.
Willmott pleaded guilty to two robberies and was jailed for a total of five years. Two other offences, which Willmott denied, were left on the file.
He told police he had gone to the flat to collect a debt and alleged he was being repaid.
Judge Norton, who also banned him from going anywhere near the friends, told him: “The fact that one of these robberies was in your victim’s own home makes it very serious indeed.
“This must have been very frightening indeed for both of them.”
Detective Constable Jacqueline Mennie said: "Peter Willmott took advantage of two vulnerable people and bullied them both into giving him property.
"He then told lies about how he came to be in possession of the £300, which demonstrates his inability to accept responsibility for his actions.
"I am pleased he has received a lengthy custodial sentence and can no longer cause harm to the victims in this case or indeed anyone else."
