Two pregnant cows were killed when a tree brought down a power line.
Farmer William Pynn and his wife were checking his animals following heavy wind and rain on Sunday when they made the grizzly discovery.
The cows, which were due to give birth to prized Limousin calves in September, had been grazing in a field off the A28 near Godmersham.
Mr Pynn said: "Our reaction on seeing them was total devastation.
"We felt so sorry for the animals and our concerns at the time were for the rest of the cows as we thought they might get electrocuted as well; we were helpless until we knew the power was off.
"A tree had blown down from the railway embankment, causing utter devastation by bringing down the fence and the electric cables with it.
"It has been a very hard summer for livestock farmers with the dry weather; we wanted the rain but not the storm."
The animals have since been removed from the field.
Mr Pynn says the animals, which are worth £1,500 each, will be covered by his insurance.
