Thousands enjoyed the sunshine and a feast of live music at Ashford’s Create Festival.

The stage was set up in Victoria Park and ska band The Selecter performed a showpiece set at the free festival.

They were joined by Ashford-based groups such as Himali Blues, who combine their experiences in the Gurkha community with their love for rock music, and Riskee and the Ridicule, who combine grime, hip-hop and heavy metal.

There were also popular performances by Faversham-based blues and rock group Flawless Carbon and Salvation Jayne.

Meanwhile, on the community stage, Ashford Community Choir members were in good voice.

The festival, organised by Ashford Borough Council, boasted a line-up of more than 30 bands and DJs, outdoor theatre and puppetry.

More than 12,000 people enjoyed the afternoon and evening of entertainment, with as many as 5,000 enjoying the set by The Selecter.

A full report and picture special will be available in the Kentish Express newspaper on Thursday, July 27.
