Detling set to stage Kent's 'Grand National'
00:00, 13 March 2003
THE annual West Street Tickham (March) point-to-point meeting at Detling always attracts a large number of entries and this coming Sunday's fixture will be no exception.
The feature race of the day is the Kent Grand National run over four miles, which carries the maximum prize money allowed for a point-to-point of £240 to the winner. This is a mixed open so both the men and ladies will be able to compete.
Seod Rioga put up a great performance at Charing on Sunday in the Men's Open and should go well again if declared, although Dixon Varner could be the danger.
It would also be hard to oppose Sheriff's Friend in the Ladies but Man of Steele looks a good each way bet.
Rustic Revelry and Oxendale should both run well in the Confined. Trainer Paul Hacking is looking for his first winner this season and this could well come with Namrom
The Flying Dragon and Peter Bull could go one better in the Maiden after finishing a close second to the favourite at Charing. The first race is at 1pm.
