09:39, 01 August 2013
A dramatic car chase took place in South Ashford last night, after police pursued a vehicle which failed to stop for officers.
Witnesses report seeing multiple police vehicles following a blue Land Rover Freelander at high speed in South Ashford at around 7.15pm.
A police helicopter was later seen overhead at around 7.45pm.
It is believed the driver exited the vehicle and was being hunted with the assistance of the helicopter and dog units in the vicinity of Cuckoo Lane in Singleton.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Police were searching for the driver of a vehicle that had failed to stop.
"Whilst officers were following the vehicle they were obstructed by another vehicle which rammed into two police vehicles causing damage.
"A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with that and is currently in police custody.
"Enquiries are on-going to trace the driver of the original vehicle."
