Ashford man charged with pretending to be a police officer after Beaver Road crash

A man has been charged after allegedly pretending to be a police officer after a crash.
David Saunders reportedly threatened members of the public after the car he was in drove into a fence in Ashford.
Police were called after Saunders, 37, became aggressive towards witnesses after the silver Vauxhall Astra he was in crashed with the fence in Beaver Road.
He reportedly threatened several people, at one point claiming to be a police officer before pulling out a knife.
The Beaver Road resident has been hit with five separate charges related to the crash and ensuing arguments.
These include dangerous driving, failing to provide a breath specimen, using violence towards others, impersonating a police officer and threatening a person with a knife.
He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday November 22 and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monda December 20.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, which took pace at 2.55pm on Saturday November 20.
