One of the first things to double check before installing signs read by thousands each day would be to check the spelling... but it seems that wasn't the case in Ashford.

Motorists heading into the town have spotted a glaring error in the spelling of the word 'infrastructure' on a temporary sign.

The warning, which advises drivers of lengthy roadworks starting on Monday, is on the A28 Great Chart bypass approaching Matalan roundabout.

A section of the A28 leading to Brookfield Road will have a reduced speed limit of 30mph until Friday, December 21.

Last month, another sign among roadworks outside the Ashford Designer Outlet displayed a blunder by spelling Canterbury without an 'r'.

Three years ago, four road signs in Ashford town centre were subject of ridicule.
