Police have charged a man with cannabis production after being called to a shooting which led them to a drugs factory in a rural village.
Officers were called to a property in Little Chart Road at 11.40pm on Friday night after a man was shot and injured.
They found a cannabis factory with 100 plants being grown in a nearby outbuilding at the scene. Today residents have reported ongoing police searches at the property to clear the site.
Yesterday, detectives said they had arrested a man and a woman in connection with the incident, and now 40-year-old Craig Haines, of Little Chart, has been charged with production of the drug.
He appeared by virtual link at Medway Magistrates’ Court today and has been remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court next month.
The woman who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply drugs has been released on police bail until Tuesday, December 6 while inquiries continue.
Now detectives have renewed their appeal for information in relation to the shooting.
A man in his 40s suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident and remains stable in hospital.
They believe it was a shotgun that was fired, and want to speak to five people who were at the property before the incident.
