Classic car on fire in Canterbury Road in Ashford

Fire crews were called after a classic car caught fire in the middle of traffic in a busy road.
They were called to the scene in Canterbury Road on the outskirts of Ashford shortly after midday today.

A driver stood as crews battled the flames which had broken out in the engine of the Mustang, and onlookers reported that it took a large amount of water from the hose reel jet to put out the flames.
The crews left the scene at 1.15pm. Roadworks continue to be in place in Canterbury Road between the Croft Hotel and The Old Mill while gas works are being carried out.
