Firefighters were called after flames spread from an unattended grill pan to a kitchen.
They were called to a house in Peter Candler Way in Ashford shortly before noon today after the fat in the pan ignited.
Crews wore specialist masks and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames, but the blaze caused damage to the cooker and smoke damage to the kitchen.
The residents inside the house were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm in the property. Fire crews are urging people to take extra care when cooking.
