A man had to be cut free from the wreckage of his car by the fire brigade following a crash this morning.

The crews were called shortly after 6.30am to Knoll Lane in the Singleton area of Ashford, where they found that a woman had managed to get out of her car when they arrived.

They used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the man, before he was placed on a spinal stretcher and taken care of by paramedics.
