Fire crews were called after a car burst into flames on a housing estate earlier this morning.

They received the call shortly before 5am and sent one fire engine to Tunbridge Way in the Singleton area of Ashford.

Resident Shannon Curtis reported being awoken by the fire with her partner Connor, and took photographs from her window as the fire crews battled the flames.

The fire also spread to another vehicle, so firefighters wearing breathing masks battled the flames with a hose reel jet. They returned to the fire station an hour later.
