Fire crews tackled a suspicious car blaze last night after a farmer reported a 4x4 had been abandoned in his field and torched.
One fire engine rushed to the field in Shadoxhurst around 8pm to find the vehicle engulfed in flames.
Firefighters spent an hour battling the fire but the car was completely destroyed.
Crew manager Tim Hanley said: "The car had been driven across the field and set on fire.
"There was nothing left of it apart from the metalwork, you couldn't even tell exactly what car it was."
Police attended the incident and are investigating.
