A luxury hotel with almost 200 rooms is to get a multi-million pound revamp and a new name.
The four-star Ashford International, which currently operates under the QHotels name, is to be rebranded as Delta Hotel by Marriott.
The Simone Weil Avenue site will become the fourth Delta Hotel by Marriott venue in the country following the refurbishment, which is expected to start in January.
Real estate investment company Aprirose, which bought the hotel in 2017, is behind the huge revamp.
It has already opened one Delta hotel in the UK - with its second set to launch in Nottingham before the end of the year.
Bosses say the refurb will see "significant improvements" made to the hotel to "bring it in line with the upscale Marriott four-star brand standards".
They want to upgrade all 179 bedrooms, 18 meeting rooms and main areas, as well as opening a new leisure and spa cafe, which will be exclusively for leisure members and spa guests.
Chiefs will also look at improving the restaurant and bar space, saying they want to attract non-resident guests as well as hotel guests to a "food destination".
Veronica Kingham, general manager at the Ashford International, says the revamp, which will also feature modernised meeting space in the lobby, is exciting news.
"It will see the hotel become one of the first few Delta Hotels by Marriott in the country," she said.
“Guests will benefit from a multi-million pound upgrade, as the brand offers contemporary accommodation with a focus on getting the finer details right.
"We can’t wait to develop this partnership with Marriott and introduce both local customers and visiting guests to the new services and facilities as they are delivered.”
Hotel chiefs - who have asked Ashford Borough Council for permission to put up new signs at the site - say work is expected to be completed in autumn next year.
Marriott acquired Canada-based Delta Hotels and Resorts four years ago.
It launched the brand in the US in 2015 and then joined the European market last year when it opened a site in Frankfurt.
