A teacher has paid tribute to Ashford crash victim Sam Higgins who died on Sunday morning following a head-on crash on the A28 in Wye.
Justin Davey, vice principal at Towers School in Ashford, revealed all Mr Higgins' former teachers and fellow pupils had been affected by his death.
He said: "Sam was a fantastic part of our school community and his passing has saddened all at Towers School who knew him. Our thoughts go to his family and friends at this time."
Police are trying to trace the movements of Mr Higgins, from Kennington, in the hours leading to his death.
Officers are now urging anyone who spoke to the 23-year-old or was with him on Saturday evening to contact them as they are trying to find out where he was in the hours leading up to the collision.
Police and the air ambulance were called to the accident at 2.20am on Sunday, but sadly nothing could be done to save Mr Higgins, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
He had been travelling from Ashford to Canterbury along the A28 when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of his red Peugeot.
He collided with a blue BMW travelling in the opposite direction, whose driver, a 37-year-old man, also from Ashford, was injured.
Mr Higgins died at the scene of the crash, and the second driver was taken to the William Harvey Hospital with a suspected broken leg.
The road was closed until 10.25am while a forensic examination was carried out and the debris was cleared.
In a touching tribute Mr Higgins' family described him as adventurous, passionate and loving.
They said the MOT tester regularly enjoyed attending the gym and was a keen camper who liked visiting interesting places.
They said: “Sam Higgins, aged 23, was a loving son, brother and uncle. He was the friendliest, most helpful person you could wish to meet.
“Sam regularly attended the gym and was passionate about his fitness. He was adventurous and enjoyed camping and visiting different and interesting places.
"He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
As well as trying to identify what Mr Higgins was doing on Saturday evening, police have also launched an appeal for witnesses to the crash.
