Heartbreak as 'neglected' horses found dead in Kingsnorth field

11:45, 04 December 2017

After months of residents raising concerns, two apparently neglected horses have been found dead in a field in Kingsnorth.

A worker from the Retreat Animal Rescue visited the site this morning to make the shocking discovery, after receiving a call about horses in the field.

The two horses looked like they had been dragged behind a barn and covered with a car door, just yards away from the rest of their herd.

The two horses were found covered by a car door.

This comes after months of concern from residents who have seen the animals, including foals, in the field.

One lady, who asked not to be named, said: "These horses have been there for at least a year now.

"They stand by the gate just waiting to be fed, some of them even bang their head against it."

She continued: "All their manes and tails are matted and have twigs and sticks caught in them, they must be so uncomfortable.

"It's awful because they are so friendly and they shouldn't be suffering."

This comes just months after seven male foals were abandoned in Marden.

The RSPCA have been contacted for a comment.
