15:15, 06 December 2017

Heads were turned in Ashford high street yesterday as around 240 pupils from Highworth Grammar school performed a giant conga.

Leaving the school at 12.15pm, the pupils from the Nina Simone community wore festive hats and accessories as they made their way from the school in Quantock Drive along New Rents to the fountain in the lower High Street.

They sang and cheered loudly as shoppers stood to the side and watched the procession, before stopping and singing some Christmas songs at their detination.

The pupils were raising money for local charity Abbie’s Army and received plenty of donations from members of the public as they danced through the town centre.

The school have previously performed a Christmas Conga six years ago when the current Year 13 students were in year 7.

Since it is their last Christmas at Highworth many of them were keen to repeat the event which they had enjoyed so much.
