Twins Kevin and Keith Steele have always shared everything – and that now includes an £8,000 prize for achieving a golfing hole in one.
The ace was struck by Kevin at Tenterden Golf Club during the Pilgrims Hospice annual golf day.
Kevin, 55, of Earlsfield, Aldington, said: “I caught the ball absolutely in the middle and I heard people cheering from the club balcony. When I walked up to the green and saw the ball nestled in the hole, I couldn’t believe it had gone in.”
His triumph came at the 18th hole - a par three.
Vicki Dodds of the Tenterden Pilgrims Hospice fundraising group said: “The 18th hole plays up to the clubhouse so everybody saw it and started cheering. Friday the 13th was definitely not unlucky for Kevin.”
Retired firefighter Kevin joked: “I was crying when I rang my wife Lynda to tell her about the hole in one – crying because I had already agreed to split any winnings with my twin brother Keith.”
The brothers, both members of Tenterden Golf Club, treated everyone in the bar to a celebratory drink and Kevin said: “The bar bill came to £200 and we even agreed to share that.”
