Clintons cards is set to shut down store on Ashford High Street
11:50, 29 June 2017
Clintons have confirmed that their store is Ashford High Street is closing down.
The card shop is located alongside the entrance to the County Square shopping centre.
Only three years ago, in 2014, the shop underwent a major transformation and was given a new lease of life as it was rebranded and changed from the premium brand of Clinton Cards into the new-style Simply Clintons.
However, this was done on a trial basis and hasn’t lived up to the company’s expectations.
Clintons spokesman James Horne, said yesterday (Wednesday): “Clintons is the wider, premium brand and they have trialled several stores as part of their Simply Clinton’s brand.
“Although it is rare, it has been decided that Simply Clintons isn’t compatible with the overall brand.
“The lease is up on the Ashford store at the beginning of August so it’s been decided that it won’t be renewed.”
The store hasn’t been given an exact closure date as of yet but it is believed to be at the end of July.
It is hoped all the staff at the current store will be relocated to other branches.
