Traffic reports just after 5.40pm said the A2042 Romney Marsh Road had fully reopened.

Until then, just one lane was open after it was blocked northbound near Kimberley Walk as a result of the crash, with traffic building up in the area.

A police spokesman said officers were called to the incident just after 1pm alongside ambulance services and work was ongoing to recover the vehicle.

A man was assessed and treated at the scene by ambulance crews before being taken to William Harvey Hospital.

A spokesman for the fire service said crews were called just after 1.30pm to reports of a crash involving one car in Kimberley Way.

"Three fire engines were sent to the scene and crews used hydraulic equipment to release one person from the vehicle, who was passed into the care of paramedics," they said.
