It follows an earlier sighting of a man on the edge of the building.

Fire crews are using a ladder to try to reach the man, who is on the third floor of the five-storey Watercress House block.

At least 10 police vehicles are currently at the scene, including three vans.

Riot police carrying shields entered the building at about 4pm.

Witnesses say emergency services have been in the area since this morning.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police attended an address in Hillbrow Lane, Ashford on May 30 as part of their inquiries into a report of a burglary at a premises on the outskirts of the town on May 14.

“Whilst at the property, two men were arrested on suspicion of unrelated offences including assault on an emergency worker.

“A third man was later arrested on suspicion of burglary.”
