Two illegal workers have been arrested following a raid at a slaughterhouse.
Immigration enforcement officers visited Charing Meats off Ashford Road at 11.30am yesterday.
They found a 43-year-old Nigerian national and a 37-year-old Bangladeshi man had overstayed their visas and had no right to work.
Both men were detained pending their removal from the UK.
The owners of Charing Meats now face a potential fine of up to £40,000 if the employers cannot prove that the correct right-to-work checks – such as asking for a passport or work permit – were carried out.
Four immigration enforcement vans were photographed at the scene yesterday.
The Home Office says officers were "acting on intelligence".
