This man is being hunted after an attempted bank robbery in New Romney.

Detectives want to speak to him about a bid to rob the Lloyds TSB in the High Street.

A man is said to have demanded cash and threatened staff - before leaving the bank empty-handed.

Now officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have released an image from CCTV footage of the man they think might have vital information.

Believed to be in his 60s, he is described as stocky and was wearing a dark heavy jacket, blue jeans and a distinctive aviator-style dark hat.

The attempted robbery happened between 2pm and 2.30pm on Thursday.

Anyone who knows the man in the CCTV image - or who was in the bank between 1.50pm and 2.40pm - is asked to phone police on 01303 289600.
