Incredible footage shows RAF Airbus A400 Atlas in low flypast over Brabourne near Ashford

16:27, 05 April 2024

Incredible footage has been captured of an RAF aircraft flying incredibly low over the Kent countryside.

Neil Green was walking through Brabourne, near Ashford when he heard the rumbling of the plane.

He told of how he looked in the direction of the noise to see the military transport vehicle.

In the clip, the RAF Airbus A400 Atlas is seen coming right over Mr Green’s camera before doing a slight turn and flying off into the distance.

“I'm not good with plane names but my dad is retired from RAF so I knew it was military,” he said.

“I grabbed my phone from my pocket as fast as I could and hit record as it flew ever closer and turned right over me.

“I actually said: ‘Wow that's awesome’.”

An RAF spokesman confirmed the Atlas from RAF Brize Norton completed a routine training sortie over southern England today.

“RAF crews use a variety of training areas around the whole of the UK and vary their routes and training locations to maximise training benefits and ensure they are ready for operations across the globe,” they added.

It comes after an Airbus A400M was spotted in Herne Bay in February.

Paul Surgison told of how he had looked up the details on the RAF flight tracker and it stated the A400M was flying just 200ft over the town.
