A man who survived six days battling boiling heat while scaling mountains without suffering so much as a scratch arrived home and broke his toe while making the bed.
Father-of-two James Halligan, from Mersham, completed the Jordan Hiking Challenge 2013 on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support, clocking up a total of 60 hours walking time.
The 51-year-old managed to complete the challenge without a single scratch – but is now limping after damaging four of his toes and breaking one after knocking his foot on his bed at home.
“When I got home I decided to make the bed for the first time in a long time but I accidentally kicked the frame. My toes are now black and blue, four are damaged and one is broken.”
He has so far raised £8,747 for Macmillan but hopes to reach his target of £10,000 over the next few weeks.
