A2070 Kennington Road widening begins in Ashford
13:30, 20 June 2017
The dreaded road widening project has finally begun today on Kennington Road, Ashford.
Construction work has now started to widen the main road at the pinch point between the junction at Blackwell Road North and the factories.
However, due to the sheer size of the project the road will have to be closed for nearly three months which is predicted to cause traffic disruptions over the town.
Residents will still be able to access their properties and customers are able to take diverted routes to the factories and the Julie Rose Stadium but there will be no through traffic, in either direction, between the two roundabouts.
The road works are expected to be completed by Sunday, September 3.
