Kent trio go for cross country glory
00:00, 14 February 2002
KENT will have three girls in the six strong Great Britain Under-20 girls cross country team for the World Championships in Dublin next month.
They are Ashford AC's Lisa Dobriskey from Littlestone, near Hythe, Henrietta Freeman, from Smarden, near Ashford, who runs for Invicta East Kent, and Invicta's remarkable young runner Charlotte Dale.
Dale, from Whitstable, won the Inter Countries cross country Under-20 title at Nottingham at the weekend with Freeman in the bronze medal position. Lisa earned her call up by a splendid sixth place in 23:40 for the 6km race despite running with a cold virus.
They also secured the team gold for Kent and the fourth member of that tremendous line-up was Ashford AC's Kira Fawke, from Folkestone, who battled all the way to the line for 67th in 28:18. Kent took the gold by 17 points from Essex.
