A notorious stretch of road has been fully closed for several hours after a serious accident.
Dubbed one of Britain’s most dangerous carriageways, the A252 Canterbury Road is currently shut between Faversham Road, Charing, and Green Lane, Challock.
The route serves as a go-to for villagers heading towards Ashford, Canterbury and Faversham, with drivers being warned to expect delays while accident investigation work is carried out.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police is attending a serious collision involving two vehicles on the A252 Canterbury Road, in Challock near Ashford.
“Officers were called to the scene near Monkery Lane at 6.52am.
“The road currently remains closed while emergency services respond to the collision.”
Ambulance crews were also called to the scene.
Work took place in 2020 to improve the safety of the road thanks to a £2.1 million scheme.
