Shopping centre bosses are asking people to "check" their belongings after two kings went missing from a giant chessboard.
Bosses from Park Mall in Ashford are asking that the pieces - the only two missing from the set - can be "returned to their respective queens".
With the complex closed at 7pm, the theft must have taken place before knight-fall.
An anonymous tip said that the regal pair were spotted by the Hollywood Bowl in Station Road last week in the possession of "two young ladies".
Having been rooked, Love Ashford - a council organisation which oversees Park Mall - is hoping the pieces can be returned for others to enjoy.
Hopefully they have not already been pawned.
