A knife-wielding robber who targeted a New Romney discount store is being hunted by police.
Brandishing a large kitchen knife, the crook made off with the till at Cheap Jacks in the town’s High Street after threatening the cashier.
The man, who was wearing a scarf over his face put the entire till, complete with money inside, into a black bag before running out of the shop in the direction of Church Lane.
He was chased by a member of the public, dropping the bag with the till inside, before making off on a black moped.
Police were called at 4.35pm on Saturday. They are now appealing for witnesses.
The man was wearing a black, hooded top, and dark trousers or tracksuit bottoms. He is about 5ft 10ins and of slim build.
Anyone who saw the man and can help police with information is urged to contact Detective Constable Chris Lynch at Kent Police on 101, giving reference ZY/16633/13 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
