Ashford traffic diverted after truck gets stuck under railway bridge in Chart Road
16:00, 17 January 2014
Police were forced to close a road in Ashford this afternoon after a lorry became lodged under a railway bridge.
Officers were called to Chart Road at around 2.35pm when a truck became wedged under the crossing.
The road was closed between Templer Way and Maidstone Road, while the lorry was recovered.
Engineers from Network Rail were also called to the scene to examine the bridge to make sure it was safe for traffic to pass through.
The road has now been re-opened and delays in the area were expected to clear.
