Man survives fall from bridge over the M20 near Ashford

A man has survived falling from a bridge over the M20 today.
Police were called at 11.12am to a bridge near J10 following concerns for the welfare of a man aged in his 40s.
When they arrived, they discovered a man on the wrong side of the railings.
The man fell around 8ft and landed on the embankment near the side of the carriageway, and then tumbled to the side of the road.
The man was detained by police before being taken to the William Harvey Hospital by ambulance as a priority.
He complained o back and abdominal pain and suffered a wrist injury.
The motorway was closed in both directions for a short period while officers attended the incident.
Drivers experiencing heavy delays and were diverted through Ashford.
At one point, traffic was queuing back for three miles.
