Man arrested on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle following crash in Maidstone Road, Ashford

A man has been charged with drink driving after a lorry crashed into a parked car and wall in Ashford.

The smash took place in Maidstone Road at around 11pm on Sunday when a transporter carrying tractors hit a Renault Clio and a brick wall.

The car was badly damaged and was towed away on Monday morning.

Part of the wall also fall down.

Officers have charged Polish lorry driver Sebastian Pawliszak, 33, of no fixed address, with drink driving.

He is due before visual court this morning.

Residents of the road were first alerted to the crash late on Sunday night.

Daren Curtis said: “I heard a loud bang and came outside and saw the wall had been knocked down. He also smashed a car up.”

Mr Curtis, who has lived in the road for three and a half years, said lorry drivers parking in the road was a constant problem.

He added: “This is the second crash in our road in a month. In November, a lorry’s trailer came off. My car has been damaged before.”
