Police are seeking a man who chased and almost headbutted a member of the public.
Passers-by had to intervene as the man was targeted on Sir John Fogge Avenue, Ashford, last Friday.
The victim was prevented from entering his car at about 12.50pm after visiting a property to speak to residents.
The suspect then followed the victim as he walked down the road and into Repton Avenue, before reportedly attempted to headbutt the victim.
Members of the public intervened and the victim was able to seek help from workers on a nearby building site to call the police.
A police spokeswoman said: "Officers are investigating the incident, and are appealing for anyone who witnessed it to come forward.
"In particular, they would like to trace a man in a dark charcoal Mercedes CLA, who stopped to help the victim, as he may have information which would assist enquiries."
Witnesses should call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/120511/21, or contact Crimestoppers in Kent anonymously by calling 0800 555111 or by filling in their online form.
