A man in his 30s has died after being hit by a tanker lorry on the M20.
Police closed the coastbound carriageway near Ashford for six hours following the incident between Junctions 10a and 11.
Officers say the man, who was on foot, was struck by a lorry at about 7.45am.
Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two cars, a van and a tanker were involved in the incident, which happened not far from the bridge by Evegate Business Park in Smeeth.
Traffic on the London-bound carriageway was temporarily held this morning to allow the air ambulance to land as paramedics arrived.
Drivers were diverted onto the A20 before National Highways reopened the motorway at about 2pm.
National Highways said there are now “no excessive delays in the area”, and thanked drivers for their patience.
Inquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
Officers are appealing to anyone with information who has yet to speak to police, or who has relevant dashcam footage, to call 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/29916/24.
