A man aged in his 20s was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car.

The crash happened near The Crown pub on Ashford Road in Tenterden on Saturday.

At about 6pm a VW Polo collided with the pedestrian and police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and the pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam or CCTV footage which may assist is urged to call 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/209139/23.”
