Police spotted at Lidl in New Street, Ashford, as man in court accused of theft

A man is set to appear in court accused of theft after police cars were spotted outside a supermarket.
Officers were called to Lidl in New Street, Ashford, at 2.30pm on Monday following reports of shoplifting.
A man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft.
Jason McDonald has since been charged with three counts of theft from shops, relating to items worth more than £200.
The 50-year-old, of no fixed address, is due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates' Court today.
