A young man was knocked unconscious in an attack in Ashford town centre.
The assault happened in Station Road as the 25-year-old victim and his friends were walking along East Hill towards the Liquid and Envy nightclub.
Another group of people were walking in the same direction and - without warning - one of the members punched the victim and he was knocked unconscious.
He suffered cuts and bruising to his face and was taken to the William Harvey Hospital for treatment.
None of the group could provide descriptions of the offender and officers are keen to speak to anyone who might have information about the attack, at around 11pm on Saturday.
Witnesses are urged to phone Sgt Eric Norman on 101, quoting crime reference ZY/10946/13.
