A metal ramp has been removed from a motorway after it caused an accident and travel disruption today.
It happened on the London-bound M20 between Junction 9 at Ashford to Junction 8 near Leeds Castle at around 3.10pm when the ramp fell off a lorry, causing a four-vehicle pile-up behind.
A Highways England spokesman said: "The incident involved four vehicles and a collision with a metal ramp on the west-bound M20 between junctions 9 and 8.
"All of the vehicles made it safely to the hard shoulder following the incident.
"The debris was moved to the central reservation following the incident and is no longer obstructing any lanes."
A lane was closed after the incident.
Shortly before 4.25pm, all lanes were reopened and the ramp was removed from the road.
It was originally believed the travel disruption was caused by a ladder on the motorway.
It is not yet clear whether anyone involved in the crash was injured.
